There’s still time to ask Santa for this year’s Beano annual, featuring four special Bash Street Kids strip written by me; a different three-page story for spring, summer, autumn and winter.
These are my last Beano strips for the time being, and I’m pleased as punch to go out on four stories drawn by the legendary David Sutherland. Getting the Beano book was a real treat every Christmas when I was a kid, and the Bash Street Kids annuals too. I used to spend hours poring over David’s art on Christmas Day. I hope kids young and old get as much pleasure this 25th December with our strips.
As for writing future Beano strips… well, never say never and all that, but I’ve had a blast over the last few years writing characters I loved growing up. The Bash Street Kids, Minnie the Minx, Bananaman, Roger the Dodger, Gnasher and Gnipper, even Dennis himself. Thanks to the fantastic editorial team at DC Thomson for unleashing me on Beanotown.
