I’m a writer, storyteller, teacher and book coach working across comics, novels, television and audio drama.

You may know me best as one of the architects of Star Wars: The High Republic, but over the last three decades I’ve written stories for Doctor Who, Batman, Star Trek, Transformers, Masters of the Universe, Adventure Time and many more.

I’ve also created a fair few worlds of my own, including Shadow Service, Godfather of Hell, Dead Seas, The Ward, Sleep Terrors and Night of the Slashers.

Alongside my writing, I’m the co-founder of Strange Matter Media, where I help develop original IP and narrative projects across publishing, games and television. I also teach, mentor and coach writers who are looking to develop their craft and take their storytelling to the next level

Before becoming a full-time writer, I worked as a magazine editor for Future Publishing and BBC Magazines, launching titles including the award-winning BBC Countryfile Magazine.

Based in the UK, I live in the glorious West Country, divide my spare time between an ever-growing list of geeky hobbies, and serve as a trustee of the Bristol Folk House, an oasis of creativity, community and lifelong learning in the heart of the city.
