I am very happy to say that yesterday Warhammer Adventures: Warped Galaxies – Attack of the Necron was awarded the 2020 Scribe Award for Best Young Adult / Middle Grade novel.
Awarded by the International International Association of Media Tie-In Writers, the Scribe Awards “acknowledge and celebrate excellence in licensed tie-in novels and audio dramas based on TV shows, movies, and games.”
I am so proud that the honour this year has fallen to Attack of the Necron. Taking a property as famously grimdark as Warhammer 40,000 and making it accessible for middle-grade readers was no mean task, especially when we set ourselves the challenge of keeping as much of the tone and the flavour of the original setting as we can. A lot of work went into crafting the series and the Warhammer Adventures imprint as a whole, with Tom Huddleston writing the more fantasy-led Age of Sigmar series which kicked off with Warhammer Adventures: Realm Quest – City of Lifestone. Kudos to our Editor Nick Kyme for steering us through those early days as we worked through what we could – and couldn’t – do!
Congratulations also to my fellow Scribe nominees and winners. You can find the complete list here.
