Titans United #1

New series starts today!

Titans United #1 hits stores today, my first DC mini-series, with pencils by Jose Luis, inks by Jonas Trindade and colours by Rex Locus!

This one had an interesting origin. The original brief was to come up with a story that would feature the comic book equivalents of the TV line-up, set in a world that was described as ‘canon-adjacent’. It was to be a way to introduce fans of the show to the comics, while also taking the reader on an explosive journey. I was told to look to the original New Teen Titans run for inspiration and soon received a note from editor Michael McCalister that he loved the banter between the group! Knowing how much Michael loves the Titans, I took that as a win!

The series was originally to be released digitally in fourteen weekly parts, each running for twelve pages. Then, half way through writing, everything changed. Now the once digital series would debut in print, the story split over seven full size issues. I couldn’t have been happier. Here we are, with issue one on the stands (and hopefully in folk’s pull lists as well!)

Writing Nightwing, Starfire, Raven, Beast Boy, Donna Troi, Superboy and Red Hood? That’s quite literally a dream come true right there!

Let’s check out the first few pages…

And yes, I did grin like an idiot when I wrote the word SUPERMAN in a script!

Here’s the full solicitation:

  1. Just read Titans United and enjoyed it. LOTS of action! Kite Man!? Bold choice!

If the goal is to on-board viewers of the show this is a terrific introduction.

I am certain to add this to my pull list.

Is this your first work at DC? If so, welcome to the DCU!

    • Thank you!

It’s actually my fourth work at DC. Before this I’ve written a Wonder Woman one-shot and a couple of shorts, the first starring Hawkman & Hawkwoman and the second starring Aquaman.
