Woah! And I thought Preview Night prepared us for how busy Comic Con is. Yesterday, the convention floor was rammed – but also so, so exciting.
With our panels and signings on Friday and Saturday, George and I took to the floor to meet people, and to look around the various stands. It was great to finally meet face-to-face with people I’ve been chatting to online, such as Alex Segura from Dark Circle / Archie comics. Talking of which, issue one of Mark Waid and Fiona Staples rebooted Archie is great – go and pick it up.
Other highlights included chatting Heroes and Doctor Who with actor Greg Grunberg; running into The Shield writers, Adam Christopher and Chuck Wendig; meeting Dave Elliot, creator of The Weirding Willows (Alice in Wonderland meets Frankenstein? Yes please); DC Comics artist Dustin Nguyen; a chat with the 2000AD guys and, major thing for this 2000AD fan, meeting Carlos Ezquerra, legendary co-creator of Judge Dredd. I may have been a little star-struck during that last meet!
Of course, there were also photos, shared on my Twitter feed, but here they are again for posterity and potential mickey-taking:
The day ended with attending the Dynamite Entertainment and Monkeybrain panels before heading off to the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund’s Comic-Con Welcome Party and then onto the Boom! 10-year anniversary party.
And so, onto day three in San Diego and day two of the Con. Got some cool meetings today, plus will be signing with Alice X. Zhang and George on the Titan stand at 4pm, and then appearing on the Scribe Awards panel with George and Paul Cornell among others. Check out my SDCC schedule for more info.
