Phew! The last couple of months have been absolutely manic. I’ve been working back at Future Publishing on a contract publishing gig in the day and beavering away at night on all manner of things including four audio scripts, numerous magazine and website articles and another kid’s book. My feet haven’t even seen the floor let alone touched it.
It hasn’t all been work, work, work thought. Last Friday saw me driving down to Tunbridge Wells to attend the recording of part three of The Armageddon Storm, my latest project with Mark Wright. Announced last week, The Armageddon Storm is a three-part Blake’s 7 adventure, due to be release by Big Finish in February 2013. The CDs star Paul Darrow as Avon, Michael Keating as Vila, Jan Chappell as Cally and sees the return of Tom Chadbon as Del Grant, the character he last played in 1979 in the second series episode Countdown.
We had a fantastic day. Paul and Tom were behind the mics and you wouldn’t think it was 33 years since they last performed together. When we were recording the two actors kept us entertained with stories and anecdotes galore. Two absolute gents.
Then, when we wrapped for the day, it was off to Tunbridge Wells town centre for a mooch around second-hand bookshops, afternoon tea (how civilised) and a planning session for the next series of Iris Wildthyme. Speaking of which, I need to get back to the music edit of Iris Rides Out.
Blake’s 7: The Armageddon Storm is available for pre-order now.
