First Author Event of the Year

Hanham_LibraryJust back from my first author event of the year, a creative writing workshop for 9 – 16 year olds at Hanham Library in Bristol.

Was a great session with well over 20 enthusiastic readers (and Doctor Who fans) coming up with all kinds of fantastic story ideas. It was part of the Library’s brilliant Chatterbooks reading group that meet once a month. A photographer from the Bristol Evening Post even turned up to take a few shots too. I’ll let you know if I make the paper.

Now  looking forward to my next author visit in a couple of weeks time, heading up to Harvington School in London for a day of creative writing and journalism workshops.

In other news, I realise that I’ve been neglecting the blog in recent days. Apologies for that. I’ve beavering away on a number of projects. The New Year has so far seen me and Mark Wright putting the finishing touches to a couple of Blake’s 7 scripts plus a new Doctor Who book, working again with the wonderful Ben Morris who provided the illustrations for Who-ology.

Other that that I’ve been writing a new kids’ book based on a very popular computer game series as well as coming up with new ideas for Puffin Books and Black Library. Phew! Loads going on – but thankfully I’ve been (largely) keeping to my resolution of writing at least 500 words a day on my new YA novel.

Oh, and I need to blog about these some time soon…
