Assassin’s Creed Valhalla: Song of Glory #1

It’s a double hit for me today. Not only does Shadow Service #3 hit comic stores, but Assassin’s Creed Valhalla: Song of Glory #1 launches, kicking off our prequel to the much-anticipated video game from Ubisoft.

In these strange days of 2020, its hard to imagine getting the top secret call to jump on a plane, fly over to Montreal and start working on the plot of a mini-series with a team of top game developers, but that’s what happened late last year. It was an incredible experience and now, thirteen months later, the first issue is ready for you to read.

Here’s the solicitation:

Blades clash in this prequel to Ubisoft’s next hit video game, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. Norway. Mid-9th century CE. Eivor, a Viking warrior, observes a village raided by a neighboring kingdom. Bloodshed and mayhem erupt as she seizes the attack in her own favor–but will her victory be a blessing to her clan or a terrible curse? Elsewhere, another Viking searches for a different kind of prize, one of crucible steel . . .

Featuring art by Martín Túnica and colours by Michael Atiyeh, the comic will introduce you to the main characters of the game, including warrior siblings Eivor and Sigurd. It’s been great writing the Northmen again. Long-term readers of this website will know the viking age is a bit of a hobby horse of mine!

Keep scrolling for Karl Kopinski’s awesome cover, plus a sneak peek at the action…

Published by Dark Horse comics, issue one of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla: Song of Glory is available from your local comic store, plus digitally from Comixology US & UK.
