Upcoming event: BristolCon Fringe – 17th September

Bristolcon-Fringe

On Monday 17th September, I will be hosting the next BristolCon Fringe.

For those not in the know, the Fringe is a monthly event where a pair of SFF authors enthrall the audience with 20-minutes readings and then we have a lively Q&A session.

This month, our readers are horror writers Chris Halliday and John Llewellyn Probert.

Here’s how Chris describes himself:

chris-hallidayChris Halliday is a writer, roleplaying game designer, and occultist. He lives in Bristol with a ridiculously large library and more toy Daleks than a grown man should. He enjoys projecting the darkness inside his head in the world outside, and subscribes to the Adams Theory of Aerodynamic Deadlines.

Notable work is lead writer on Pulp Fantastic and The Dinosaur Protocol for Battlefield Press (both tabletop rpgs), and stories in the collections The Hotwells Horror & Other Stories (a memorial collection to celebrate David J Rodger after his death) and Puncture Wounds from Stygian Fox.

He is currently working on a time travel espionage game, and a linked collection of horror tales set in and around a university in Bristol.

And here’s John:

John-Llewellyn-Probert John Llewellyn Probert is the author of ninety books of horror. He is the winner of the British Fantasy Award and the Children of the Night Award and as well as writing horror fiction he has written extensively on horror film in books and on his review site, House of Mortal Cinema.

His latest novel is The Lovecraft Squad: All Hallows Horror (Pegasus Books), his latest short story collection is Made For the Dark (Black Shuck Books) and his latest non-fiction book is a monograph on his favourite film of all time, Theatre of Blood (PS Publishing).

The BristolCon Fringe takes place at the brilliant Gryphon on Colston Street, and best of all, it’s completely free! Doors open at 7pm, with the readings kicking off at 7.30 sharp.

Hope to see you there. You can find out more details on the Facebook event page.
