Up early with Radio Bristol, plus World Book Day plans and a papier-mâché Spyro!

2015-03-02 06.50.02This morning was another early start as I headed into BBC Radio Bristol to review the papers with Steve Le Fevre and Laura Rawlings on Breakfast. This morning’s subjects included why Alan Bennett thinks that Britain excels at hypocrisy and the top 10 books that all children should read before they’re 16.

You can hear me wibble on from around 1:07:30 on iplayer.

The survey about children’s books was carried out by Sainsbury’s to tie into World Book Day. Up and down the country authors will be visiting schools and I’m no exception. Tomorrow, I head down to Winterbourne Earl’s Primary School in Salisbury and then will back at Air Balloon Hill Primary school on Thursday, for World Book Day itself.

Elsewhere, celebrations are already underway. My friend Helen Goldwyn has blamed my Onk Beakman Skylanders books for her child’s Book Day costume. Just look at this:

That’s some serious papier-mâché work! Spyro himself would be proud!
