I had a great time last night at Bath Children’s Literature Festival talking Doctor Who, Daleks and more…
The afternoon started with a live appearance on BBC Radio Bristol with my Dalek co-writer, George Mann.
We chatted to presenter Laura Rawlings about writing Doctor Who. You can hear us on iplayer at around the 24 minute mark of yesterday’s show.
Then, it was off to the Guild Hall to meet up with our fellow panelists, Jonathan Morris and Mike Tucker, plus moderator Michael Stevens, in the wonderful Literature Festival Writer’s Room. I say it’s wonderful, because it has a never-ending supply of chocolate, including one of my favourites – Wagon Wheels!
The writer’s room is also home to the famous Bath Children’s Lit Fest Red Chair! Of course, we all posed, Michael taking the throne himself (although, as you can see at the top of the page, I made sure I plonked myself into the seat when no-one was looking!)
Posing over, it was time for the event itself and we had a great time chatting about everyone’s favourite time traveller to a packed room. We wrapped everything up with a special competition to win a copy of Dalek, which isn’t out for a couple of weeks! Five kids took to the stage to terrify us with their Dalek impressions. Nicholas Briggs, the official voice of the Daleks, has stiff competition on its way if the children of Bath are anything to go by.
