A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away…
OK, it was actually Saturday at Excel, London. I was up in the big smoke to take part in Star Wars Celebration Europe 2016 and I have to say I was a little bit over-excited when I got off the DLR at Custom House…
This was the sight that greeted me when I arrived at the Egmont stand – a giant cardboard AT-AT (And if you think that’s big, then check out the TIE Fighter wings in the background!)
The first order of the day was the Star Wars Publishing panel, with me; my fellow Adventures in Wild Space author, Tom Huddlestone; our editor Emil Fortune; awesome authors Jason Fry and Brandon Alinger; Dorling Kindersley publishing director Simon Beecroft; Matt Martin of the Lucasfilm Story Group; Jonathan Wilkins, editor of Star Wars Insider; and Matthew Siglain, Creative Director of Lucasfilm Publishing.
This was the audience…
And here we are discussing Adventures in Wild Space…
The panel over (and trust me there are some books coming out that I really need to get!) I went for a wander and saw Landspeeders…
Snowtroopers…
Stormtrooper action figures galore…
Tusken Raiders…
A giant TIE Fighter…
An IG series droid…
And lots and lots of cool LEGO…
Then it was over to the family area, where Tom and I led a children’s talk, ending in an awesome roaring competition (the children roaring, not me and Tom!) and followed by a signing…
Our authorly duties fulfilled, I made sure I visited the one area I wanted to see – the Rogue One costumes, where I was met first of all by Director Krennic’s uniform…
Deathtroopers…
Something that isn’t a moon…
Krennic’s shuttle…
The fantastic looking TIE Striker (yes, I’m already imagining the toy in my study!)
The AT-ACT Cargo Walker…
Stormtroopers…
And Shoretroopers…
OK, now I’m even more excited for the film.
So, all in all, a brilliant day. A big thank you to Lucasfilm, Egmont and my partner in Wild Space, Tom.
Now, it’s all systems go to get ready for SDCC!
