DOTHA Interview #13 – Brendan Purchase

Next in a series of mini-interviews with the creators of the Death of the Horror Anthologyavailable to support RIGHT NOW on Kickstarter.

Today, we talk to artist Brendan Purchase…

Hello fellow DOTHA creator. Please introduce yourself and your story in the collection…

I’m Brendan Purchase, but I’m not sure we have a title yet!

What do you find scarier in horror stories: inhuman monsters or monstrous humans?

This is an interesting question, I have always had a fascination with monsters and creatures but also the real monsters are the humans, the things that our minds can twist and turn us into.

What scary movie, book or comic do you think every horror fan should experience?

Easy. John Carpenter’s The Thing.

Tell me something cool about your story in DOTHA.

It’s just chaos with a hint or madness.

Also it deals with issues that have effected my life something I’m sure Dan did not know about when writing it, but feel like I have a connection to the story a little.

What’s your top tip for creating a scary story?

I’m not a writer, but as an artist it’s making sure you have the right imagery and able to show the energy and darkness in the piece.
