Doctor Who: Night of the Whisper Announced

9th_DoctorIt’s the news I’ve been wanting to talk about for ages. Thankfully, issue 456 of Doctor Who Magazine has spilled the beans so I can reveal all… well, almost.

As part of the 50th Anniversary of Doctor Who, AudioGo has teamed up with Big Finish to produce a special series of audios entitled Doctor Who – Destiny of the Doctor. Each month features a different incarnation of the Time Lord and last year Mark Wright and I were asked to write one of the 11 releases. Producer John Ainsworth was even kind enough to ask us which of the Doctors we’d like to write for. As you can probably guess from the picture on this page we opted for the 9th, as played by Christopher Eccleston. It was too good an opportunity to write for a Doctor who sadly wasn’t around long on screen.

Needless to say, it was a great honour to be asked to write for the anniversary series. Night of the Whisper comes out this September, but at the moment that’s pretty much all I can say.

The full Destiny of the Doctor line up is:

    1. Hunters of Earth by Nigel Robinson (out now)
    2. Shadow of Death by Simon Guerrier
    3. Vengeance of the Stones by Andrew Smith
    4. Babblesphere by Jonathan Morris
    5. Smoke and Mirrors by Steve Lyons
    6. Trouble in Paradise by Nev Fountain
    7. Shockwave by James Swallow
    8. Enemy Lines by Alan Barnes
    9. Night of the Whisper by Cavan Scott and Mark Wright
    10. Death’s Deal by Darren Jones
    11. The Time Machine by Matt Fitton

As you can see, we’re in grand company. For more news about the 50th Anniversary check out issue 456 of Doctor Who Magazine, on sale now. You’ll also find my review Justin Richards’ Doctor Who – The Angel’s Kiss on page 70.

Mark and I have been working on another special something for the 50th, but we can’t talk about it yet. Hmmm, I wonder what that is? More news when we can reveal all…
