Blake’s 7 The Armageddon Storm wins a 2014 Scribe Award.

The-armageddon-storm-coverIt’s been a Blake’s 7 few days. On Friday, I was in studio with Paul Darrow, Michael Keating, Jan Chappell, Steven Pacey, Tom Chadbon, Alastair Lock and more recording Scimitar, the first in Big Finish’s new run of full cast plays. There was a great atmosphere in the green room as the cast shared jokes and memories, as well as saving the galaxy when they got behind the mic, of course.

SCRIBEv3medWINNER2Then yesterday I awoke to the news that Blake’s 7: The Armageddon Storm, by Mark Wright and little ol’ me, had won the audio category of the Scribe Awards at San Diego Comic Con. The Scribe Awards, in case you don’t know, are presented by the International Association of Media Tie-In Writers and celebrate excellence in licensed writing based on TV shows, movies, and games. Winning this award is a great honour for me and Mark and, in true award ceremony style, I’d like to thank the cast (Paul, Michael, Jan and Tom) plus director Ken Bentley, sound designer and composer Alastair Lock, and producer David Richardson.

The other awards went to:

In the Original Novel General category: A Tie
Monk: Mr. Monk Helps Himself by Hy Conrad
Leverage: The Bestseller Job by Greg Cox

In the Original Novel Speculative category: Star Wars: Kenobi by John Jackson Miller

In the Adapted Novel category: Pacific Rim by Alex Irvine

In the Short Story category: Mike Hammer: “So Long, Chief” by Max Allan Collins and Mickey Spillane

In the Young Adult category: Archie Comics: Kevin by Paul Kupperberg

Finally, Diane Duane was selected at 2014 Grandmaster, the highest honour awarded by the International Association of Media Tie-in Writing, recognising her countless achievements writing novels based on movie and television shows.

What good company to find ourselves in! Thank you to the International Association of Media Tie-In Writers for the award.
