All onboard the Book Barge

This month’s issue of Countryfile includes my interview with Sarah Henshaw, the owner of one of the most unique bookshops in the country.

The Book Barge is a floating bookstore on a converted longboat. Last year, Sarah set off on a cruise around Britain’s  canals to promote the value of books. Instead of accepting cash, Sarah bartered, swapping food, accommodation and even the odd shower for her stock.

In September, photographer Sean Malyon and I headed off to meet Sarah and had a great morning, full of laughs, home made cake and Ian Fleming chat.

You can read Sarah’s story in Countryfile, issue 57, on sale now and you can follow the ongoing adventures of the Book Barge on Twitter.
