A fan commentary for Doctor Who: The Empty Child as I join Chris Johnson on #9is10

11280314_10152767577980703_1603973743_nWhat? The Empty Child was first transmitted 10 years ago? That’s INSANE!

To celebrate, I joined TV’s and Doctor Who Magazine‘s Christopher Johnson on his quest to provide new fan commentaries for the 9th Doctor’s stories ten years on. So far he’s chatted to Spider-Man and Silver Surfer comic writer Dan Slott, voice of the Daleks Nicholas Briggs and loads of lovely other people.

Here’s the drill. You get The Empty Child up on your DVD or on iTunes or Netflix or however you take your Who. Then you pause it right at the beginning and fire up the #9is10 podcast. At the correct point in the proceedings, Chris tells you to press play and you can listen as we wibble on about how much we love what’s happening on screen.

Before, during and after the episode, Chris and I talk about my 9th Doctor comic and the Night of the Whisper audio, why I used to watch Doctor Who from behind my grandmother, Star Trek in Doctor Who, a reference to The Paradise of Death in Weapons of Past Destruction, why spooky children really affect me, plus whether there should be any more purely historical Doctor Who stories.

So, cue up your episode and press play on the video below. The actual commentary starts at 16:16.

You can also download it from Soundcloud.

Enjoy! And then ask yourself: “Mummy?”
