Monster Fun Halloween Spooktacular Special

Are you ready for a fright?

I loved Monster Fun as a kid. I was too young for the original run, but knew the characters after the comic merged with Buster as well as the various Monster Fun specials and Annuals that came out in the 1980s. Soon I was searching for back issues in second hand shops and church sales, never happier when I discovered a dog-eared copy in a pile of old comics.

It’s why I’m pleased as punch that the title is back from the grave in the 48-page Monster Fun Halloween Spooktacular Special which is on sale today from Rebellion.

Here’s the official blurb:

Britain’s kookiest, legendary anthology returns from the great beyond with 48 pages of brand new, HELL-arious comic strips! Frankie Stein, Kid Kong, Draculass, Sweeny Toddler, Gums, Teddy Scare and the Hire A Horror crew have returned with a diabolical host of new frights – including one of Britain’s best loved superheroes, The Leopard from Lime Street – to usher in the witching season with SPOOKTACULAR fashion!”

Even better, two of the spooky strips are written by me!

After writing Frankie Stein in last year’s Cor Buster specials, I’m back writing the big green lug with Monster of the Year with art by John Lucas, colours by Gary Caldwell and letters by Amber Cee. A few pages later sees my first ever Draculass: daughter of Dracula strip with art and colours by Roitsa Vangelova and letters by Kay Nines.

Here’s a look at both stories:

And for anyone hoping for more, Rebellion have already announced that the Monster Fun will be back next year as a bi-monthy comic launching in April 2022, just in time for Easter. You can read all about it here and I’m pleased to say I’ll be writing Frankie for the foreseeable future!

It’s going to be a scream!
