Hello! Cavan here.
First up, I wanted to say a big thank you to my assistant Sarah who has done a sterling job posting on the site the last few months. I’ve decided to dive back into posting more regularly myself as I miss talking directly to you folks, plus have some exciting new projects coming up that’ll I’ll be wanting to share some inside info about.
One of those projects premiered this week – Star Wars Jedi Temple Challenge, a brand new quiz show for kids that was originally due to be aired on Disney+. However, due to the fact that kids all over the place have found themselves on lockdown, Lucasfilm decided to put it out on the Star Wars Kids YouTube channel instead so as many people as possible could share in the fun whether they had a Disney+ subscription or not.
As Sarah posted a week or so ago, I contributed to the series, my first TV writing work!
Every episode features a short story told by Mary Holland as the voice of droid AD-3. The Padawans playing the game have to listen carefully and then answer questions on the tales.
What has that got to do with me? Well, as revealed in StarWars.com’s fantastic behind-the-scenes feature on the series, I wrote AD-3’s stories!
At the time of writing, two episodes are currently available which can both be watched below.
The first episode includes the story about a Jedi Master with an expanding waistline and a love of Force Sculpture while the second tells about trouble on a maintenance planet (and features at least two of my Star Wars obsessions… you’ll know which when you see them!) The art is by the show’s art director, Kilian Plunkett, who long time Star Wars fans will know as being the art director on Rebels plus the penciller on many Star Wars comics including Shadow of the Empire.
I’m so proud to be a part of this series, which I think has come at the best possible time. It’s fun, its joyful and it’s pure Star Wars. Go watch it and may the Force be with you!
