My Exciting Adventures with the Daleks

Dalek posterI love Daleks Invasion Earth 2150AD, the 1966 motion picture starring Peter Cushing as dotty time traveller Dr. Who. It’s a very different beast to the TV series that spawned it, but still gives me a warm, nostalgic glow to this day. That amazingly kitsch spaceship, Philip Madoc’s evilest of evil quislings, Bernard Cribbins – action hero and, of course, those wonderful Technicolor terrors from Skaro. Fantastic.

That’s why I was chuffed to little pieces when I was asked to introduce the shiny new print of the film at the wonderful Little Theatre in Bath on Sunday 5th May. Best of all, the audience was packed with kids who, I’m pleased to say, sat absolutely engrossed from beginning to end.

They even sat through my talk and laughed in all the right places! A good many also walked away with a signed copy of Who-ology.

There was even a very special Dalek who came along to watch the film…

The good news is that I’ve been asked back to introduce Dr. Who and The Daleks at the Little Theatre. The original 1965 movie is being screened on Sunday 7th July and again I’ll be giving a little talk beforehand, full of Dalek facts. I can’t wait to see Cushing on the big screen again. Tickets are available now.

Hopefully I’ll see you there.
