Believe it or not, this was a normal day’s work at the moment.
And, yes, it was for work, but I couldn’t help but giving into childish glee at every appearance of Dennis or Roger or Little Plum or Baby Face or Bananaman or… you get the idea.
How could I not? Reading the Beano was such a massive part of growing up for me. And I still use the jokes I read in the comic (as my poor daughters will attest)
But as my friend George Mann said when I texted him a few dozen pictures of the day:
I’ve come to the conclusion that ‘growing up’ actually means learning to embrace and appreciate everything that makes you happy (such as comics, toys, the types of books you read, the people you spend time with) without feeling in any way self conscious about it.
Well said, George. Which is why I’m proud to say that at the age of 40 I still buy the Beano every week. And I’m still a member of the Dennis the Menace fan club!
